The program is structured to provide both knowledge and practical steps, ensuring that artists not only learn but also implement strategies to advance their careers.
Getting things done that I have been avoiding, I think was massive for me. Just to even start approaching things you have to do, like submitting to shows, which I hadn't been doing so that was a game changer.
This isn’t a grad school replacement but it gives you structure, community, there’s lectures, there’s crits, it’s pretty amazing what you can get from this.
It’s not just for people like me who feel clueless, It’s for anybody who wants a safe space, judgment free sort of feedback, because the subjects run a gamut. It’s anything between structure and technical questions.
You can go there and get really practical, really straightforward and non judgemental responses.

I just really liked your persona. And I just liked how you obviously were out there to help. And I think the critique thing was what was really missing in that (other programs)So my bus and SkyTrain time is my office time, I'm literally working, and you are in my head, my headphones. And I'm listening to you talk about the stuff. So it's like the works really does kind of take off that like avoidant factor when it comes to being a professional artist. And I'm so grateful for it. Because if it wasn't for the program, I wouldn't have sent in two grants, I wouldn't have had a website, which is so important.

Being a Works Member has really helped me give direction to my practice and provided great resources, references, materials, and such practical advice on getting there. I felt like I had hit a brick wall with my artwork website and had no idea how to get it to a place that I would be really happy to share it with people. Listening to the podcast episodes combined with the Works resources gave me really great guidance and helped me structure and organize my website, as well as great ideas for where I could go with it. Being a Works Member helps me not only discover great resources but I love discovering new artists or people in the Arts industry through I Like Your Work. I should mention it is such a welcoming community, and even with my overwhelming virtual-platform "stagefright" I feel comfortable contributing.”
The educational tools and resources offered through The Works membership have proved incredibly useful. I’ve had fantastic responses from galleries regarding my Media Kit, which I didn’t even know was a thing before signing up for The Works! If you are looking to tighten up your art game while having the added benefit of being part of a fun and interesting community of artists, invest in yourself and invest in The Works!

The artistic journey can be so isolating but Erika encourages and inspires with the beautiful catalogs she produces and the incredible work that she introduces to our community. She also creates opportunities for so many artists to grow and explore through her online calls for exhibitions which offer free participation for Works members. Generous, warm and authentic, Erika is an inspiration.2- During my time as a Works Member I have learned to trust my work and to prioritize only the opportunities that will move my career forward. Erika's clear minded feedback, compassion and encouragement have also taught me to delegate and to feel comfortable asking for help on big projects. Thanks Erika for all you do to create community and help others!!”
